1. Get to chill next to the Lake Mendota when the weather looks good.

It feels like beach sometimes. Without final, without construction, you can occasionally find some bikini college girls lying down there doing sunbathing, and you get to try out there very homemade dailyscoop ice-cream, which is sinfully delicious.

2. Get to live at good looking apartment at relatively cheap price!

Off campus is not so off campus at all.

3. Play with animals everyday

Consider alternative entertainment before? How about a lot of cute pet animals like guinea pigs! Aren’t they so adorable?

4. Experiment with cooking!

Wisconsin’s aura makes everyone a genius in cooking. By the way the above cooking is solely by me all alone, and this is my third time in cooking. It tastes amazingly delicious! For a starter this is beyond expectation!

5. Get treated like a celebrity

Wisconsin people are really friendly and they treat people pretty nice, so get ready to feel like a celebrity wherever you go. Just don’t get shocked when they are too nice at you.

6. Badgers are damn cute

SO DAMN CUTE ANIMAL!

7. Get to play with a lot of snow!

If you are a big fan of snow, lots of snow, Wisconsin is the place to go. They only have 2 seasons: one winter and the another one either being summer or construction season.

8. party school knows their stuff

They are not kidding when they called themselves one of the best party school. This place is awesome.

9. They got a super super nice capitol of the state.

One of the most expensive and most beautiful capitol in the states. This is for sure a must go whenever you are here. Be it in winter or in summer, Lady Wisconsin stands magnificently above all of us.

Where is No 10? You can only find out by coming here by yourself. You will wish that your college life is like this everyday.

A world created by a pen, paper and its writer. In 21st century, pen is substituted with laptop, paper with wifi connection, but writer is never substituted.

1. Self- published magazine at the age of 10. One of my favorite pastime at that time was to write short articles about some random animals and inventions I read from the newspapers and put them in a small magazine-like book. My deceased grandma was the only reader.

2. Serialized light novel at local newspapers at the age of 12. Due to the heavy influence of Pokemon, Digimon and basically Japanese shonen anime in general, I began to write stories about the adventure of a young school boy who discovered the power to save the world as a masked man. Together with his friends, he had to fight against his evil father and brother. It was set to be a trilogy, but only 2 were published as the third was not sent in on time.

3. I had a private myspace that ranted basically about stupid teen stuff in my high school. “Mean girls” doesn’t just happen in the states only.

4. I wrote short “yellow” story at the year-end of Form 2. That paper was torn by some “righteous” student and I got scolded by my very Christian friend, who is currently a Pastor-in-training now.

5. I drew manga about samurai and Kung Fu fighters due to the influence of “风云” (Wind & Cloud) at that time. My mom discovered it and asked me stop writing about stuff or else I will get caught by the police.

6. A light novel about ancient Chinese Kung Fu fighters with characters featuring my classmates. Same old cliché about the adventure of a young teenager but this time I wrote more about some love story in between the main characters.

7. An anime blog called animeoftheday that talks about things and quotes I learnt from anime I watched. Some of the anime has really dark theme and is definitely worth sharing.

8. A Pokemon light novel featuring Pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire, and a new evolved version of Pokemon designed by myself.

9. Findaholic.com where I put says.my ads link onto it and earn little money from the clicks I obtained from the website.

10. Intecsky.com where I write about tips and story for the students in Intec, the Pre-U college that I attended before going to college in the United States. This “want to share my experience and tips” idea was the precursor of akirastory.com.

I was still a kid back then so all’s forgiven; not anymore I guess. As writing has become more and more open to the public, no free space is left for everyone to freely write just about anything in a constructive environment. Tips to get straight A1 can be divided into 3 categories: Attitude, Action, and Aptitude. If you have the attitude to work hard and look into your strength/weaknesses while studying, if you have taken some action to study hard/ study smart, or the last thing, if you are born with ingenious ability to memorize every material in SPM, you can get straight A/A1/ A+.

3. Is SPM important? Is A crucial?

It depends on which subjects you are talking about and what would you want to do with your SPM result. SPM result is definitely important, it’s part of your life that’s going to bring you to somewhere sometime in the future. But just like any examination in your life, you will soon forget it once you are faced with a bigger challenge.

4. Do we need SPM result to go oversea university?

It depends. but I did include my high school result + SPM result while applying for the universities in the United States. I believe if you are taking pre-U courses such as A-Level or Ausmat and are planning to apply to schools in the UK or Australia, SPM result becomes relatively less important.

5. I have failed my SPM, what should I do?

Live out your life and be a testimony. A lot of people failed in SPM exam but they did not fail their biggest examination called life.

6. How to achieve good result in SPM?

Luck only appears to those prepared mind. Be prepared, and you shall be granted good result.

7. Is SPM hard?

If you are currently taking SPM, yeah probably. Ask anyone who had taken SPM before they will tell you it’s a piece of cake. Whatever level of study/ career you are at now is definitely your hardest in your life, or else it means you do not progress in your life at all.

8. What happened to students who failed their SPM?

They become either normal people or successful people, depends on what action they took after SPM.

9. Did you fail after achieving SPM?

Subject wise, not quite yet. Life wise, oh hell yeah a lot of times. In terms of relationship, I never had a girlfriend after SPM.

10. Will I regret taking SPM Chinese?

No. In fact SPM Chinese is one of my favorite class in high school. I love to write in Chinese.

11. If I got straight A’s in SPM, should I go for Form 6?

SPM result should not be a factor in deciding what you should do after SPM. What you want to do after pre-U should be the more important factor in deciding what you want to do after SPM.

12. What will I get if I have straight A’s in SPM?

Some level of happiness. Everyone will congratulate you and worship you like God for a day, and then you get slammed back to hell by starting your pre-U courses.

13. How’s life after SPM?

For me it’s pretty awesome. I had tried a lot of new thing, like being independent away from home, get to meet new friends of different races, taking courses that I would never expect to take in my life like Contemporary American Literature. So far I really enjoy my life.

14. If I fail my co-curricular, will I succeed in getting a scholarship?

Probably not. But if you fail in getting a scholarship I would suspect that you fail your c0-curricular.

15. What’s a good way to do revision for SPM?

One of the technique I used is I buy a few different publisher’s reference book and I memorize the reference answer provided for the practice question. The questions are pretty similar in a lot of sense so just practice, practice, practice, and don’t forget to do a lot of memorization.

16. What’s your feeling about your school?

High school? It’s fine. I went to a pretty normal SMK school dominated by a lot of Malaysian Chinese. One of the thing I felt about my high school is the lack of speaking in BM and English during the school time. Still, I love my school for  those great memories and great friends I had met.

WordPress sounds like airasia. lol.

Apparently today is the anniversary of my blog akirastory.com . Hooray!!!

2 years ago I would never expect my blog to be read around the world, let alone inspire anyone. If the Why I regret SPM post didn’t get viral, I believe this site will just be another ranting site for me to self-indulge in my own world. If without the constant support and encouragement from you guys, the awesome readers, this blog will probably die off. If it is without your comments, reply and feedback, I would not challenge myself to write and express more of my experience for you guys. I received a few letters saying that my blog had inspired them, but it is actually the vice versa that holds true; your words had inspired, if not motivated me, to be a better and more courageous blogger, and I really appreciate all of them.

2 years had gone and I sure has changed a lot, for better or worse, but I hope to retain the sincerity and genuineness when I first wrote my blog. All of them are true stories that are still vivid in my mind. In regardless of who you are, I hope my personal experience will have resonance throughout your life as well, as I continue to grow up and experience new things in my life.

When I was 8.

She scrimps and saves, so that you can have the best.

I was 6. If you are already 21 then most probably you won’t remember much. However, I remember during that time I suddenly developed aneroxia nervosa;  I ended up throwing up everything I had eaten. I had a terribly poor appetite. So my mom cut the bread into small triangular shape and fed me one by one. She sliced out the chicken meat from the bones to feed me, and then she ate the bones all by herself. I asked, “why Mommy eats bones? Does it taste good?” Mommy looked at me, and said in a calm voice, “Yeah. One day when Mommy doesn’t have the energy to even move, would you feed me?”

When I was in high school, there was a school sport event, and I called my mom way too early to drive me back home. I was in a bad mood that day so I became angry at her. It was a scorching hot day, and as a result of long wait for me in the car, she got a heat stroke and fell really sick that night. She covered herself with blanket, her hands were holding a cup of hot Chinese medicine, my dad was next to her,  and he asked me, “Do you have anything you want to say to your mom?” “Take care.” and I walked away, my PC game was waiting for me.

While you are living your life, she sacrifices hers.
Even when in pain, she never complains. 

I love trying new things but I was also a crying baby. Whenever I fell while learning how to ride a bicycle, I got a huge bruise and I started crying, Mommy was there band-aiding me.  When I fell on my back, she walked me to the hospital, and to the examination hall. I fell into my own puke, she cleaned up for me. Every time whenever I fell, or the time when I felt that I failed my life, Mommy was always there supporting me.

Mommy doesn’t know how to cook. She learned it all by herself. A lot of times she accidentally cut herself or spilled hot cooking oil on her hands. And most of the times, I came, I stared at her, I said “Why so careless one?” and I walked away and continued playing my computer games.

She devotes all her time to you. But you never have any for her.
You don’t ever listen to her, but she gives you her undivided attention. 

She gave up her job in the company while I was four. When I had problems, she is always there and listens to me. When I got into a fight with my dad, Mommy was there protecting me from being punched by my dad. I cried a lot, and she wiped away my tears. When I was 12, I had a stage fright while in a story-telling competition, I ran away with tears, she was behind me comforting me.

When I saw her crying alone in the dark corner, I kept quiet. I didn’t know what should I do, so I pretended that nothing had happened.

because you will always be her baby. 

Mommy emphasizes on my education a lot. She taught me the basic algebra and languages, even though she knows nothing in English. I was a stupid kid back then, as I can’t speak a single word until I was four, and even with much extra tuition I always seemed falling behind. In middle school, when I can’t learn the school material well, I became emotionally anxious, and my Mommy said, “No worry, just keep learning, you will eventually master it.”

When my mom asked me on how to use any tech-related product, I always became impatient, and said, “why you so stupid one, why you cannot learn it?” I always thought that she should know everything but I didn’t realize that she’s just getting older; she just can’t learn that well, like how I used to be when I was a baby.

Once a week when Mommy calls in while I am in the states, I occasionally find her to be annoying. I complaint to Mommy that sometimes I can’t answer her Skype call right away, so stop spamming my Skype. She seldom calls in anymore and I felt really guilty about it, even until today. I wonder, how many words have I said that made her heart bleed.

Sometimes she wonders what she has done wrong. 

My mom is awesome. We had fights and quarrels often when I was a kid, but she is still the best mom to me. 3 years ago, during my college time in Kuala Lumpur, I sneaked back to my house and threw her a surprise Mother’s Day Celebration with a cake. Haha, she thought that I was a burglar as I didn’t have the house key and there’s no one in the house.

A mother’s love knows no bound. Yet, she is only human.
But your simplest of actions, can bring her boundless joy.  

These are just some simple stories and memories I had with my mom. These tiny little events might seem normal to an outsider, but these memories have a precious place in my heart. I had grown a lot taller, but I will always be your little baby (which is also my nickname among my family members).  Thank you mom. While everyone is still probably getting caught up with the General Election, and you might not like it when I blogged about politics, I want to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day.

Just look at the crowd, you will be in awe! I wonder when is the last time any of our previous prime minister had such a crowd cheering for him and his team’s work.

It’s dark. It’s harsh. Yet every word makes you bleed, makes you think about your beloved Malaysia, and what the current government has been doing behind the scenes.

Yet the Head of EC said, “it’s okay to have the ink washed away within a few hours.” A nice video on opinions from different people talking about the election fraud and questions raised in this General Election 2013.

Partially, he’s right. Still, stop using Chinese as your scapegoat! Chinese Tsunami we kutuk, Chinese Newspapers we kutuk even more okay? What’s wrong for Chinese to support a cleaner government that brings more hope? It’s not a lie that if the people of Malaysia want to, they can change!”

The fight is not over yet. We will continue to fight for a better Malaysia. Democracy is not dead yet; but if we give up now, it might, and it will.

• Para penulis Utusan yang terperangkap dengan politik perkauman BN gagal memberitahukan berita sebenar, iaitu orang bandar, generasi muda, kelas tengah, yang lebih berilmu ingin menumbangkan kerajaan Barisan National (BN) yang banyak rasuah dan kotor. 
• Percaturan penulis Utusan untuk menjadikan politik rasis, BN dan Najib, sebagai pencetus rusuhan perkauman bagi membolehkan mereka menyalahkan mana mana kaum juga tidak kesampaian kerana Orang Malaysia yang berpendidikan dan bersopan sayang sama satu kali tanpa kira kaum.
• Walaupun BN kalah banyak kerusi disebabkan “Tsunami Malaysian” yang dikatakan oleh para analyst politik, tetapi yang lebih memualkan, bersama dengan Najib, Utusan masih belum berpuas hati dan mahu mencetuskan rasis headline yang bertajuk “Apa Lagi Cina Mahu” sehingga menimbulkan pelbagai gag dan comment atas media sosial seperti Tumblr, dan juga menimbulkan ketidakstabilan masyarakat.

• Beberapa tahun lepas, Utusan yang dimiliki UMNO semakin hari semakin merudum dan selepas berulang kali kalah saman di mahkamah kerana memfitnah. Ini telah menunjukkan bahawa Orang Malaysia memang nak menghapuskan sentimen perkauman.
• Pelbagai pihak menyifatkan apa yang berlaku dalam Utusan kali ini adalah cara untuk mencetuskan permusuhan antara kaum sekali lagi. Menyalahkan orang Cina memang sangat senang kerana ini boleh menukarkan fokus dari fakta bahawa generasi Malaysia baru tak suka BN.
• Apa lagi Cina Mahu? Hanya Keadilan, Demokrasi, dan semangat Toleransi yang diajar oleh Agama. Apa lagi Cina Mahu merupakan apa lagi semua orang Malaysia yang mahu.
• India tak sokong UMNO-BN dianggap Terrorist, Cina tak sokong BN dianggap racist, Melayu/Bumi tak sokong UMNO dianggap Balaci Cina Tamak sudahlah sangat kuat cengkaman dalam fikiran BN. Inilah yang mesti kita ubahkan.

 I originally want to replace UTUSAN as CINASAN to act as a contrast but thinking that people of UTUSAN might misuse that picture to create more tension among Malaysian.

1. We were connected as one big family.

Though I was alone in my room staring at the computer, I was following the news closely. Never before I had felt so connected to my friends of different religions and races for a common objective, even though we are separated by a thousands miles across the world. At that particular instance, we are together, tied with such a strong bond through the virtual world of Facebook, Twitter, kinitv, and so on. The moment when the candidates of the party we prefer has won, we cheered together; and when they lost, we were sad, disappointed, and probably sweared a few words. We were angry together against the corruption and the inefficiency of EC, and we were together wishing everything to be peaceful and “damai”.

2. Regardless of political view, we all want our country to be better. 

Yes we differ in our political views, but can we be a little bit more mature against the others who have different views from us? So stop all the violence and defamatory comments and action against other party. Stop all the fear and threats that are politically motivated! All in all, regardless of what party we serve/ support, we all want a better Malaysia out of it.

3. The rise of Political Awareness among all of us. 

It is such a delight to see so many people posting things on Facebook expressing their political view and opinion about our country. There might be some irrational comments, stupid posts or even fear-creating rumors, but I was so surprised when people I know who will never talk about politics suddenly posted stuff about Bersih and General Election. A huge wave of returning citizens went back and vote, and we had an 80% of voter turnout in GE13, A RECORD BREAKING! We have become more aware of our surrounding and less apathetic towards politics.

4. The use of dirty politics makes us see clearer. 

It’s hard to prove, but there is an obvious electoral fraud, and none of us can really claim that the electoral process is 100% clean and fair except the current winning party. But look at the election result,with the assumption that even with the presence of fraud, PR managed to win a pretty good amount of seats with majority in popular votes. It shows that not only we need a larger turnout for the next general election, but also an even stronger coalition. There is room for improvement for both coalitions. To those ignorant who ignore these room for improvement to be stronger and like to blame their lost on their rival, they shall lose in the coming election. And hopefully we can all see clearer through this election and learn something.

5. The racist action makes us reflect more. 

I felt so sorry to those immigrants for their poverty were used by the corrupted, and to those darker skin Malaysians who were blocked from casting their votes. I know that these racist judgment were a result of unclean electoral system, but there is no justification to our racist prejudice against immigrants. Reflect on ourselves, what makes us any different from those racist and extremist? What have we done, and what can we do to make this country even better for everyone?

6. All in all, we move on, peacefully. 

This election has shown a lot to those new voters, those that can’t vote yet, and those old generation what our country can do, in both good and bad ways. Now, as the new government formed, can the parties in PR still maintain its relationship with each other? Will UMNO finally show its true face? Will the people of Malaysia still hold dear to our beloved country? Can we keep the momentum in moving and changing the country? Future is mysterious, but it’s coming, and only time will tell whether this historical turning point is turning to the right direction or not. As Malaysians, we move on.

To Pro BN supporters and BN, congratulation in winning the federal power. Just to let you know more than 50% of the voters vote BN not to be the government, so if you don’t behave in the next 4-5 years, the number is just going to increase. So stop the “chinese Tsunami” theory as it is the urban constituencies that vote against you, and it is the rural wall that protects you. And also, it is time for you to “menepati janji”, be focus and work together with everyone to make Malaysia better now.

To Pro PR supporters and PR, it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to groan, but after that, you have to move on! You have lost your dearest democracy, but you still have your friends that had fought with you. Only through the hardest trial, you can realize just how weak you are against corruption and power. Work harder, get stronger, 5 years later, if we still really hold our country dear, we shall meet again at GE14.

and special thanks to everyone who had worked hard for this election to ensure that it’s clean, fair, peaceful, and mature. We had already changed, and we are the biggest winner in the long run. So… what’s your experience/ feeling towards this general election?

Politics is everything in Malaysia. It’s something closely related to our life. It affects our life in a very intimate manner.  However, 10 years ago, people of Malaysia chose not to be involved in it, because it’s dirty, it’s corrupted, it’s dangerous…. whatever reasons. But now people had awakened in a really surprising manner that even a lot of experienced politicians were shocked and unprepared of this change that’s coming.

Suddenly there were those quiet Malay friends of mine posted “PASti DAPat KEADILAN” on her Facebook. Suddenly my social media news feed was filled with a bunch of videos, posts and comments related to change and general election. Suddenly I felt so connected to that land that’s at the another side of the world. Even if I am of a Chinese descendant, for the very first time, I have never felt so Malaysian before.

Yes, we are already winning, for whatever the result is (although I much prefer a new ruling coalition running our country ).

Words can’t describe just how exciting and how happy I am now, as a Malaysian.

There’s a storm coming. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you’re all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

They are lucky? Or are we Malaysians the unlucky one?

There’s really no luck involved. In fact, we are the luckier one to begin with; our land is filled with natural resources, our country is free of natural disasters, our history is made in a peaceful manner, and these make every nation envious.

Yet, our country’s wealth is stolen away from us. We all want our country to change for the better and achieve higher. It’s true, change doesn’t happen in a “poof”, but the turning point that leads to change in the long run sometimes only takes a blink of an eye to happen.

1. Think about why and how you want to change your country. 

Is there a particular reason or purpose why we want to change the country? Or are you happy with things going in this country? Strong reason motivates stronger will for change.

2. Take action at the starting point.

May 5th, 2013. Malaysia 13th General Election. It happens once every 4-5 years, and the one vote in our hands can change the future, but the change will not happen if we don’t seize this rare chance. We have caught sight on it, and how can we not doing anything about it?

3. A role model. 

Pick a person that can be your best role model to lead the country.  Change the country like the role model country you wish Malaysia to be.

4. Be positive. 

Don’t let any obstacles or failures come in the way to change our country. If we are prepared and take actions, we can definitely achieve change as long as we are positive that we will achieve it.

5. Love our country.

Do you really love Malaysia? Are you proud of who you are? If you don’t love your country, can you still believe in your country and your country’s dream? Be confident in Malaysia and its people, as they can surprise you in ways you can never imagine.

6. Follow your heart.

Be passionate in things you do. Also, media has two sides in Malaysia, and it’s up to you to decide which side is the truth, or which side is closer to truth. All in all, listen to your heart and act on it.

7. Be determined.

Always stay determined and motivated. Change might not happen right in front of you in the blink of an eye, but you have to stick yourself constantly to the dream to change your world. Determination can drive you through your darkest hours fighting for Malaysia.

8. Interact with more Malaysians. 

We are a bunch of talented people, we all have dreams and hope to make Malaysia a better country. Surround yourself with like-minded people who also share passion and dreams to make Malaysia better. Learn from the achievers of Malaysia and behave like one.

9. Smile. Be nice. 

Smile as in the end we are still Malaysians and we have been together trying to achieve one common objective.

10. Have faith. 

Believe in Malaysia, believe in the country’s people, and believe in those people’s dream. All in all, believe in God and yourself that change can really happen.

Changing our country for the better can be easy, if we Malaysian can work together on how to change a country, just as long as we are truthful about our desires and passionate in realizing the Malaysian Dream!

In less than 24 hours, we can really change the country.

Heavy machinery is hardly thought of as emotional, but on Thursday, when construction workers hoisted a 408-foot spire up the roof of One World Trade Center, it proved difficult not to gaze skyward in reverence to the risen skyscraper. The spire, draped in an American flag that swayed in the breeze, slowly rose on the crane as construction workers cheered. While the tower won't be completed until 2014, the spire represents a crucial piece of the construction process.

“Truth needs no bribe; Justice needs no threat. ” – Leung Man-tao.

Leung Man-tao (梁文道), a Hong Kongese social commentator and TV critic famous for his sharp and thought-provoking critique on cultural, social and economic policies, recently gave a piece of word to all Malaysians in Chinese. It went viral on FB and I think it’s a good read that I decided to translate it into English for everyone to read.

Here I want to say, I was very touched by my trip to Malaysia. Most of us believe that there’s an easy right or wrong in this world. Yes, we all believe in the existence of truth, and we all believe that justice must prevail in the end. Yet, for most of the time, it is just a grey area; The reality of the world is not always clearly one thing or the other.  It’s not black or white; it’s just grey.

I have no courage in telling others what’s right or what’s wrong; it’s not just something I can simply talk about. However, through this coming election in Malaysia, I found that it’s easy and simple to tell what’s right or wrong on the issue of truth and justice. You don’t really need to ask anyone as it’s just right in front of your eyes. For a simple analogy: while I was in Kuala Lumpur with Yang Bai Yang, a famous Chinese social commentator and writer on Malaysiakini, we were focusing in front of the TV as we know that there will be a rally around KLCC. We changed the channels a few times but there was no report on that rally. At last, the rally news was seen on the TV, which was reported by CNN. Right at Petronas Twin Towers, police force was firing water cannon and tear gas towards thousands rallying (for Bersih). CNN reporters said, “This is democracy in Malaysia Style”.

The moment I watched this, I know that this government has lost. It looks all powerful above us but it has lost. Last night when I visited Penang, I saw that the blue flags were hanged all over the Penang City; with lots of free food being served. The BN is so rich that it can pay for everyone’s lunch, and I knew that these are just wrong. BN is wrong.

The moment they need water cannon to fear away protesters in the rally, the moment they spent money on lots of food to buy votes from the people, they had lost. The moment they told the country, that a vote to PKR equals a vote to PAS, and used this as a threat to fear the voters, they had already lost. Truth needs no bribe; justice needs no threat. 

Recently I have the honor to meet KhaiLoon’s father, and I asked him: were you scared when your son, who was merely a student back then, joined the Reformasi?  He said, yes he was really scared when he saw his son arrested by the police on TV. The moment you need to arrest a college student because of his vision and dream for the country, you had already lost. But the moment a father, from his fear watching his son arrested, to his pride watching his son  giving speeches in front of public with a mic, he has already won.

I know that there’s some Chinese family who will never be involved in politics. They believe they should never interfere politics, as politics is brutally cruel and dirty. Then, the family members finished their meal together and they started talking about politics on Facebook.

This family has won.

When none of you were never involved in any political rally before, or you were just being scared of persecution by the authority, yet you have the courage to walk out of your house and your comfort zone, you have already won.

Real justice and truth, right or wrong, is so clear and easily judged in this coming election. No matter what the election result is, the moment when you go and drop off your ballot a few days later, you guys have already won.

May all Malaysian win in this coming general election. Less than 48 hours before a real change come to Malaysia. 

（诗巫是我的家，身在异乡求学的我，就姑且关注一下他们有什么好说的吧。 ）

选民书中指出，诗巫值得更好的发展，这里的人有热诚、展望，我们不能冒险赌上这里的未来，我们已经找到诗巫的新方向，现在需要选民的支持，让诗巫人值得拥有的美好未来，早日实现眼前。

（言下之意，就是之前人联发展诗巫的旧方向，久久都没办法好好发展诗巫，而且还发展的很失败。上面的这些话，在我十年前懂得什么是选举的时候，就已经听到会背了。十年后的诗巫，不但没有享受到什么很好的未来，十年前和现在比起来，诗巫现在简直就是烂到爆。十年前伸长了脖子等得半天的东西，到现在，一样也没得到。福州20年前比我们更烂，连大便都要随便乱大；现在福州连地铁都要有了，你们还不争气？）

人联，这次就好好休息吧。 国政也一样。

13项承诺如下：

（一）打造教育城
教育城是诗巫未来的重点方向，我们从砂拉越联合学院开启了诗巫高等教育的发展，陆续促成护士学院和海事学院，而在联合学院更名为莱拉泰益学院，并进一步提升设施，以及首开全国先河提供免费高等教育之后，诗巫又再登上砂州教育发展的另一个巅峰——兴建中的砂拉越科技大学，是国阵一诺千金的铁证。

（十年前保证的将诗巫升格为旅游市的承诺他妈的跑去哪里了？？联合学院是华社在诗巫想要一件大学，上门向政府申请，政府竟然说，“要大学，先给钱先”。结果自己华社去捐钱建的。还有，想一想啊，为什么突然改名啊？你不说我不说大家都心知肚明了。）

（二）抓紧再生能源走廊契机
预计投入3千340亿令吉开辟的砂拉越再生能源走廊计划，是本州转型成为高收入州属的关键，诗巫作为该项计划的一个重点地区，预料可以造就庞大的商业和就业机会。政府已经耗资逾5亿令吉打造诗巫-丹绒马尼大道，我们备有妥善方案，充份掌握再生能源走廊契机，让诗巫登上这班发展快车。

（要等上发展的快车，请先把tanjung mani 还有普通生活用的路给我建好，好不好？我在诗巫出生，20年来看到的都是烂到不能够再烂的路，还会一直下沉的路，看了心也沉没了。)

（三）继绩治水防灾
耗资1亿3千720万令吉的第一期治水计划完成之后，诗巫在很大程度上摆脱了一雨成灾的阴影，目前耗资4千680万令吉的第二期计划已经展开，而为了确保更广泛的同胞远离水患，只要国阵继续执政，我们承诺早日落实第三期以及第四期计划。

(太慢了！！！ 钱都被你们吃掉了，真正被用来发展的钱到底剩下多少啊！)

（四）争取免费过桥
南兰大桥的兴建，是国阵政府体恤人民渡江劳顿的规划，我们认同还有需要争取的空间——开放免费过桥。基于大桥属于联邦工程，并授权承建商收取过桥费，所以需要具备在国会中更强大的代表力量，去争取落实由政府收购大桥，以废除过桥费。2011年州选，诗巫5个选区当中，有3个选区的同胞选择将希望寄托在反对党候选人身上，以致我们错失了一次的机会，这一次可能是最后一次的争取机会，我们一定要把握。

(竟然是政府，为什么还要去争取？证明了这个复杂庞大的国政在执行政策上时的偏差。过多党意见错综复杂，然后还要聆听老大umno/ 白毛的最终选择。人联永远做不了首相，在国会里也不过就是个小咖。如果需要在国会中争取更大的代表力量，那选择火箭Over 人联才应该是更逻辑的选择。 人联这个党，请问西马有几个人认识你们的名字啊？更别提候选人了。）

（五）增辟直透航班
诗巫作为砂州中区枢纽，航空交通的提升是必要的，因此，我们先是完成了耗资1亿3千700万令吉的机场扩建工程，接着我们希望在国会当中，争取开辟新航线以及增加航班，这是为了在外的游子，也希望借此引进游客，促进诗巫经济发展。

（飞机场扩建是因为民都鲁，古晋，美里，都有新机场后，我们sibu人 也想要一个扩建的机场，但是，这个要求迟迟不给。要不是刘会洲过世，迎来了诗巫补选，哪里有那么好的事？ 首相为了赢得诗巫人才说 “You help me, I help you. 给我Robert Lau,     我给你飞机场。check 第二天马上下。” 这句话马上成为马来西亚Najib 经典的贪污名言，Sibu一下子就出名咯！不要再用这些什么给钱啊给发展啊当作他妈的政治糖果！国政，发展国家是你的责任，是义务，不是给你大选时才拿来用的糖果！！！）

（六）安全与健康社会
随着城市化发展以及人口增加，罪案率也跟着上升，因此，人民安稳的生活是我们首要关心的事项，我们的目标是透过在国会争取增加警力，借以打击与防范犯罪，同时落实全市电眼措施，恢复人民生活的安全感。另一方面，我们关注人民的医疗需求，所以将继续争取增设一个马来西亚诊所以及综合诊疗所，并且提升诗巫医院现有的设施和服务。

（城市化发展和人口增加不是罪案增加的原因！ 看看日本如此之多的人口在东京，安全是世界第一。在诗巫，会发生这么多严重的罪案，是因为我们现任政府领导人贪污腐败，导致他领导的政府部门个个也都不象样！诗巫罪案严重，除了非法外劳不断涌进诗巫，还有就是一群不负责任的警队人员。我的阿姨不久前，一辆车才不见， 去找黑社会老大 （诗巫黑社会也是很出名以下的）老大说， “bagi RM20,000, you help you, I help you find the car.” 去报警，警察也说一样的话！ 没想到现在sibu警察跟黑社会一样！人联党怎么都不对症下药？？一个马来西亚诊疗室有多烂，叫这些人联党部长把钱省下来派给人民，自己去看klinik satu malaysia 看他们敢不敢？林冠英坐airasia, 人联党你敢不敢？）

（七）捍卫母语，呵护教育
教育是诗巫人最重视的课题之一，这里的家长即使再苦，也要尽最大的能力让子女接受最好的教育，这是我们两人多年来与教育界同仁共事的过程中，所亲身体验。我们也了解各民族特别是华族对母语教育的坚持，因此，在教育课题的争取上，我们绝对不会松懈，并将合力在政治主流当中，确保政府公平对待各源流学校，争取承认独中统考文凭，以及制度化拨款给各源流学校，包括独中、华小以及教会学校。

（你们人联和马华这一群卖华走狗，可不可以不要再提什么通过国政捍卫母语教育，【提到就生气！】争取公平了。国政的统一性政策早在很久以前就已经策划要统一政府学校，使用单一国语教育， 这个就是Satu Malaysia lah! 白痴啊还相信这句“国政捍卫母语，公平对待各族各源流学校。你们争取了多久，每次大选都讲他妈的一样东西！！！）

Say NO to all these political lies!

（八）提升泛婆干路
我们为泛婆干路每年发生的人命伤亡感到痛心，作为贯通砂州的首要干路，即使需要再庞大的经费，我们也必须争取全面提升，以改善这条大道的行车安全，同时有利经济发展。我们高兴国阵中央聆听我们的心声，在竞选宣言当中列入了打造从南砂直达沙巴的泛婆大道计划，如果有幸获得诗巫大多数同胞支持，跟进这项大道提升计划，也将是我们的重要任务之一。

（那条路一开始竟然是我们的主要干路，为什么当初建得这么烂！ 投资下来的钱被你们吃了多少？一条通完诗巫机场一公里的路，你们人联党用五年多的时间只是来完成Upgrade！自己扪心自问，贪了多少人民的钱。托了多少人民的时间。辜负了人民多少对你们的寄托？）

（九）农业规划及现代化发展
诗巫依然欠缺大规模的高经济农业规划，因应我们充沛的土地以及人力资源，我们的计划是在诗巫外围地区，打造现代化而且具有高经济价值的农业生产区，争取农业津贴，加强出口条件，一方面帮助现有农民增加收入，一方面让有意进军农业的年轻子弟拥有更理想的打拼空间。

（讲得好听，为什么到现在还是行不通呢？人才外流啊！津贴什么的是好事，但是，请人联看看大环境吧。贪污腐败，无效率，不公平的政策，我们已经看不下去了。）

（十）注重青年需求
在以民为本的精神下，我们坚持人民享有追求更美好生活的权利，年轻一代对生活环境及品质的要求，是我们重视的课题之一。我们聆听并注重青年人的心声，诚盼青年朋友和我们站在维持稳定，追求幸福的同一阵线，我们计划在闹区打造免费无线上网的环境，以迎合现代人对无线宽频网络的需求。

（这句话，是民联政府的。全国市区都会有免费无线上网，毕竟是福利国嘛！！！大部分年轻人现在只想这个腐败的政府放个假。）

（十一）关怀弱势群体
国阵向来致力打造爱心政府，自从拿督斯里纳吉倡行“一个马来西亚”之后，对于国民福利的照顾有增无减。国阵已经许诺，只要继续执政，将会年年派发一马援助金，而且数额将会调高至1千200令吉，以帮助人民纾解家庭开销负担。对于弱势群体比如单亲妈妈以及贫苦或残疾同胞，我们将争取检讨现有的援助计划，以使对他们的扶持更加周全，而在调高福利的同时，我们将有协助弱势群体逐步自力更生的计划。

（人民扶助金是政治糖果。政府年年欠钱，哪里来的钱给我们啊？？而且读过书的人都知道，这不能长远帮助国家，反而有害国家经济发展。如果人联这么有心，部长请你把你那美丽的豪宅分享给人民吧。一个YB 的薪水一年其实也不高啊！快把钱吐出来！）

（十二）纠正行政偏差
政策的纰漏有时并非来自政策的拟订者，为了贯彻有利于民的政策，我们必须确保各个部门纠正行政偏差，同时，我们希望结合大家的力量，一起改善贪污问题，使到政策能够如愿让广泛民众受惠，也能减免公帑的浪费。

（谢谢你们承认我们的贪污问题腐败。我们不要减轻贪污，我们要灭掉贪污。对，每个国家都有贪污，但这不是放纵国家失败的理由和excuses。要不然，我们每个人每天拿把枪到部长家抢钱，然后说，每个国家都有抢钱按，枪械案发生。所以部长不用太紧张啦。你们浪费了五十五年的钱，STFU！ ）

（十三）坚决反对极端主义
马来西亚建国以来人民享有文化及信仰自由，多元民族彼此尊重，和睦共处，但是这一切并非理所当然，尤其是在上届大选之后，民联政府在其执政州属推行了一连串的极端政策，破坏了原有的自由与和谐。我们恳请各位同胞和我们一起携手抗拒这种极端势力，使我国人民继续享有文化及信仰自由，安居乐业。

（最让人火大的一点，让我们国家长年活在恐惧和不安的思想当中的，就是国政啊。国政给我们制造了虚伪和平的假象，以为妥协，牺牲，就是和平，尊重。然后总是说一大堆“用华人的血啦”“不用华人票啦”不也都是国政吗？！ 对，民联很极端。对贪污腐败很极端，恨不得全部贪污的人全部去死，恨不得赶快执政解放人民从国政暴政和打压中解放，恨不得每天能省则省，把钱还给人民，恨不得每一个宗教，学校，都得到相对应应有的拨款，恨不得统考赶快被承认，恨不得人人都能有便宜的油，汽车，等等，恨不得吧种族主义分子全部大打十八鞭。民联，就是一个这么极端的政府，也好过你们每天坐在那儿翘脚，等这个等那个拨款争取什么的！）

给民联一次机会做工。给国政一个机会放大假。

总结：

（人联，你们对诗巫的付出，有些是很值得嘉奖的。你们也有一些很不错的候选人。但可人联，你这次可以就闭嘴吗？可可惜，人联党服务错了领导人，选错了联盟。就算党再崇高，也无法匹敌整个国政腐败的中心思想。这一次大选，为了国家，为了整个big picture, 人联你这次就闭嘴一次吧！辛苦你们了，人民批准你们放五年假，让那些无经验的民联体验一下做国家政府的辛苦吧！）

本篇中略有用粗口，但也是因为连我自己也无法按压住自己心中这把对国政腐败的怒火。就算是16A1, 忍耐，也是有限的。很佩服一些政治家，像YB Hannah Yeoh, 面对这一切国家的不平等时，还能脚踏实地温和的说。对此我深感抱歉。部分来源：联合日报 。

五月五。换政府。5Mei。 PASti DAPat KEADILAN!  Ini Kalilah! Now Or Never.

1. If this logic holds, then Malaysia can never truly claim itself to be multiracial since Malaysia is always dominated by just one race.

2. National Front (BN) is a coalition, not a party, thus making it a multiracial coalition and not a party. Although all parties use the same symbol during election, sadly it also means that the National Front practices “divide and rule” based on different parties, which some of the are based on races. In fact, past records had shown that National Front only took care certain elite groups that have a certain relationship with the coalition.

3. A distinct leader from BN is what makes BN problematic in nature; one of the fact is that the leader will always be from UMNO. All parties need to listen to the final decision of UMNO after expressing their interest to UMNO while on the other hand, Pakatan (PR) demonstrates that each party within its coalition has equal chance in becoming the leader of this country, which demonstrates equality in between leaders of Pakatan’s parties.

4. However, BN is also pretty well-known for its unity in corruption and scandals. LOL. If BN is truly united then UMNO will not tell the Malays that “Malaysia will become a Christian Nation” while MCA tells the Chinese that “Malaysia will practice Hudud” after PR rules Malaysia.

5. None of the PR party is racial constitutionally.

6. Why is it noteworthy that the PAP of Singapore did not join the coalition? PAP must have foreseen that this coalition is not worthy in investing their talent, time and money.

7. History is important, but the present is also important. PAS has demonstrated a clear indication in trying to reach out non-Muslims Malaysian by way of moderation. Representation of one’s race/ tribe in a coalition has become less of a concern nowadays as the people relate themselves as Malaysians better and deeper nowadays as compared to the older generation.

8. It is still difficult to get every party to accept the policies or objectives of the coalition all the time. Therefore, in his logic, a smaller coalition should be better as less sacrifice will be made by each group.

9. Of course, in every coalition, there must be some sort of give and take and of a willingness to sacrifice and concede, but to what extent? BN is currently sharing power unequally in between parties as most power is centered in the hands of UMNO. This can be seen as the case when MCA is constantly “fighting for the sake of Chinese’s school” but failed to do so under the might of UMNO.

10. While PR also shares power they cooperate together without seeing their effort as a form of sacrifice. This can be seen when PAS offered 100% help to DAP 2 days before the nomination date without asking for any return.While BN components know that every party needs to make some sacrifice, they continue to lie to the community they represented by constantly quoting , “one day, just one day, our party’s entitlements will be realized.”

11. If the system makes everyone unhappy, there must be something really wrong deep down in the system. How can something be right and still make everyone unhappy?

12. If a coalition can be made by just representing Malaysians, then under PR rule theoretically everyone will be satisfied. It is here that the BN’s philosophy in ruling the country has become obsolete in today’s time. BN will always point out and play up the fact that our race and tribe is important and it needs to be represented somehow in the parliament, ignoring the fact that corruption and poverty doesn’t give a shit on what race/ tribe we are.

13. The attack by the ruling parties to the current opposition is definitely racist and terrorist in character, trying to fear non-muslim that PAS will rule this country with Hudud Law while trying to fear Malays that DAP will turn this country into a Christian Nation. It is also a form of threatening fear that a change in government leads to instability as a change in federal government should be viewed as part of a healthy democracy.

14. Freedom of religion should be provided to all people in regardless of your race, even if your race is constitutionally defined with a religion.

15. It is indeed true that the national education system in Malaysia with different languages as medium of instructions is one of its kind, but it is also true that the current education system has a lot more dire situation that needs to be solved: a lot of schools, in regardless of medium of instructions, did not receive reasonable funding that’s proportional to their respective students’ size, world recognized certificate provided by local high school is not recognized by local universities, the quality of education offered by local universities in global ranking, and so on.

16. Sadly, the racial riot in May 13th 1969 was more of a political agenda rather than a racial issue. This new and bigger coalition went on to become more and more corrupted and developed the country below a lot of expectation of most Malaysians. That’s why we have a huge problem on brain drain issue, and our economy is not on par with other developed countries after 50 years of development. Sadly, the current generation of Malaysians dreams even bigger and BN has failed our expectations.

17. Take an analogy, just because Ali/ Ming/ Muthu usually scored 99% in their past exams and only 66% in their most recent exam in 2008, it doesn’t prove that they didn’t cheat in that exam. It is most probably that the exam was way beyond their expectation (surprisingly) and they will definitely cheat even more to make sure their coming exam scores higher. That’s why the GE13 is expected to be the most dirtiest election ever, as BN knows that it will be a lot harder to stay in power as compared to the previous elections shall they remain to cheat at the same level.

18. It is pretty unclear to me why a multi-racial party cannot truly be formed? Obviously there will always be a race that’s dominant in one party if you define race as your ethnicity or your blood inherited from your ancestors. Our country will always be dominated by Malays, if we divide Malaysians based on Malays, Chinese, Indians and so on. If so, back to my first point, our country can never be a multiracial country.

19. Although our country can be multiracial, our national identity has somehow been shaped by our common experience in Malaysia. We speak in a pretty funny accent/ behave in a unique way to the outsiders because we insist on each of our identification, yet embrace others’ identification as part of ours. We enjoyed ourselves to be different yet similar in our own way; just look at us while shopping, driving, eating… something that we can truly feel as Malaysians away from home only. BN has constantly bashing on PR that PR has no common platform, yet BN is the one that divided us and ruled us, told us one way and acted the completely opposite way while PR has the orange book with a common objective to wipe out corruption and cronyism of UMNO and BN, and to increase living standard of all Malaysians in regardless of races.

20. Is BN ready for us? Looking at the many countries in the world where democracy has brought only modernism and prosperity without much natural resources/ with much natural disasters, Malaysia is unlucky to have found an obsolete formula to divide races and rule them differently, while the current generation of Malaysians has already changed and is dreaming something bigger, better, and brighter for Malaysia.

I am not saying that PR is perfect and BN is shit as hell. Obviously PR can have a lot of room of improvement and I believe they can definitely do better if they become one party with one symbol, and have the party constitution built on 3 different pillars that stand for Democracy, Religion and Justice. PR still has a long way to go but it is a good start for mutual cooperation in between these 3 parties. Judging from the track record of both PR and BN, I would say that Pakatan definitely wins as a better candidate this coming general election as compared to BN.

May the righteousness win for a better future for all people in Malaysia.

If there’s the freedom of speech, I hope someone accepts that I do have my opinions that can be different in their interest sometimes.

Malaysia!

The People’s Dilemma

I am proud and grateful to be a Malaysian.

Always. 2 years ago, I began my study abroad experience in the United States under the privileged government scholarship. I had met a lot of Americans and international students alike, and I am proud to be their first Malaysian they had ever met in their life. Yes, in front of everyone, I constantly referred myself as a MALAYSIAN. Occasionally I will crack jokes like, “My ancestors were imported from China. But I was made, assembled and packaged in Malaysia. Completely.”

For a lot of times, I was even too lazy to explain that I am actually a Malaysian of Chinese descendant. Who gives a s*** about that?

Sadly, some Malaysians do.

I was very lucky to bring one of my friend to visit Kuala Lumpur on one summer holiday. Like how Americans have stereotypes of Asians, we have stereotypes of Americans too; friendly but blatant, arrogant, ignorant, sarcastic, a first world problem-er… and he fits into almost every one of them. We have a budget room at a hotel at Brickfields, and we visited Petronas Twin Tower, Petrosains, Bukit Bintang, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek and Mid-Valley. We took an excursion to Klang to eat Bakuteh too.

The journey was disastrous, disgusting, and awful at its best. The city was itself like a dump-site filled with rubbish under the sign “Do not litter”. There were shirtless homeless next to the rubbish pile. There were a bunch of scary looking sketchy strangers (probably illegal immigrants) walking next to you, and they all looked like they were going to rob you at anytime. The holy shrine of Masjid Jamek was surrounded with rubbish near the foul river. My friend’s wallet got pickpocketed right at the first and only night in KL. We were locked inside the Monorail station when we took the last monorail back to KL Sentral and were forced to climb over the spiky fence to get out of the station. And it took another 1 hour plus just to wait for a KTM train.

Young teenagers like me are thankful for a lot of things in the country. However, when we were shown just how bad Malaysia is right on our face, we began to feel hopeless, useless, and helpless. Our country was supposed to be better than this, not just another country being ridiculed over the net as a laughingstock.

We, as the students oversea, were asked to make Malaysia proud. Like I said, I am also proud to be a Malaysian. However, at times when I browsed through my Facebook and News feed  I asked, “what had Malaysia done to make me feel proud of Malaysia recently?” Psy? Bersih? Corruption? Lynas? hmmm… …

Malaysia, although has the world’s tallest twin tower, failed to get its recognition in the world. Now, Malaysia is unable to compete itself against South Korea, China, Singapore, Thailand and even now Indonesia. In fact, a lot more people know about Thai Food as compared to Malaysia Food.

I always wonder, how did we, who always pride ourselves having a blessed nation with rich heritage, end up being so poor?

10 years ago, at the age of 11, I began to read newspapers, and what caught my interest at that time was news about politics. It was also the time of 11th General Election of Malaysia. When I received a pamphlet of BN talking about how great their contribution was to the town development, I was really convinced that “BN is a good government”.

It’s also the first time I learned what “Opposition” is, at the age of 11, when I talked about politics with my relatives, and she replied, “Vote ROCKET. We need strong Opposition to balance the government.” I was speechless. Stunned. Completely.

Since then, 10 years had passed, and I am worried that whether our country is on the right track or not. New problems constantly arise, and old problems were not solved. Scandals were all over the net. Other Malaysians, when they were asked “Why Malaysia is so shitty now?”, the respond I received is always a disappointed sound of “Haizzz (sighing), what to do?”

What do you mean “what to do”? DO SOMETHING!!! There are a lot of things you can do, and there’s one thing you can do for sure in the near future, VOTE! If there’s something you are not satisfied about the government, now is the chance to VOTE! Every vote counts.

I have a dream. In fact, we all have that dream: a successful Malaysia powered with economic governed by clean and efficient government, a harmonious Malaysia free of crime, poverty and racial hatred, a society that enjoys freedom of speech and freedom of worship, a culture of competitive education and affordable health care.

Most importantly, I believe, is that we can truly have freedom from fear that has dictated us for the past 50 years.

Now, the future is in our hand. Hopefully, 10 years later, as we look back, we can proudly say, “I am proud to have transformed the fate of our nation that year.”

1. Eat all the chocolates.
Best day to have my lust and craving towards chocolate fulfilled. “On a diet!” Even better, chocolate strawberries made by my roommate’s girlfriend.

2. Give chocolates to the opposite sex.
Everyone Loves Chocolate! Everyone will be happy to receive chocolate! This is something I really wish that I am a Japanese in Japan as boys get to receive chocolates from girls on Valentine’s Day. (If you are in Rochester and this post is still here, I have some free chocolates giveaway. Just come to my room. LOL.)

3. Skype with my parents.
They are the first two people on Earth who fell in love with me, even before I was born. They deserve some call from me today. Love you Daddy Mommy!

4. Post a YouTube video and ask for a valentine.
Might receive a lot of constructive feedback or from the YouTubers, like another 20 pounds loss, plastic surgery… … Who knows I might get one?

5. Walk around the campus and ask if anyone can be my valentine.
Some random girl asked me today and that makes my day! You can do the same thing and make their days too!

6. Write something on why I fell in love with Rochester.
The place where I had my first snow, white Christmas, white Chinese New Year, and white Valentine’s Day.

7. Browse through Facebook and watch my friends’ awesome photos.
Tons of my friends who are in love and tons of my friends who are still single too. Read Facebook posts by those who are in love to get some ideas on how to cheer up my future girlfriend, and read those posts by those singles knowing that I am still single for now, but not alone.

8. Go to Gym.
My future girlfriend deserves something better than this current body. Just like electronics, thinner and wider with more powerful function is always better.

9. Listen to emotional Chinese music.
Chinese emotional music is the best emo song. Listen to relationship, boys girls problems, love bla bla bla. This is the best time I can take a vacation away from those mainstream party music. Or maybe the recently hot video by NameWee that went viral in South East Asia?

10. Appreciate what you have now.
What saddens my heart today is that I read a news about a girl committed suicide by jumping off from the 6th floor at Berjaya Times Square Mall after breaking up with her boyfriend. Being in a relationship is awesome, but the most awesome and amazing thing in the world is that I am still alive.

Have a great Valentine’s Day. I believe you guys will have one.

Don’t get bored. There’s always things to do during Valentine’s Day even when you are single.

The election must be held before mid-April. Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is expected to request the dissolution of Parliament somewhere between the middle of February and the middle of March.

1. How many Muslims did get confused by the Malay Bible with the word “Allah”?
I mean, if Muslims can differentiate between the Bible and Al-Quran that both contains the word Allah and choose to burn the bible, I think their heads stay pretty clear, or else they might burn the wrong book. Come on, my Muslim friends are not stupid.

2. Who gets converted to other religion just because he/she read a religion book that has the name of God who he/she believes in?
If any Muslim did get converted to Christianity because he/she accidentally read the Malay Bible with Allah, it must be by the Allah/ God’s will, because I never did get converted to Mormon or Judaism just because I read their holy scriptures. Neither did anyone get converted by my bible. Or maybe these Muslims who get converted are not having a strong faith in Islam to begin with. I mean, I wouldn’t want to be a Christian at all if Ibrahim Ali believes in Christianity and still says all these WTF thing.

3. What does Allah really mean in Malay Language?
Correct me if I am wrong, but according to Wikipedia and google, the use of Allah in Malay Bible can be dated till 1650, when Dutch translate Allah in Malay to be “the God” in Bible by A.C. Ruyl, Justus Heurnius, and Caspar Wiltens. I personally don’t really like the word “Allah” to be used by Christian, but if the original meaning of the word basically means ” the God” (which I read it from a book in Dubai) and it is historically, etymologically, constitutionally correct, why can’t Malay Bible use the word “Allah”?

4. Why burn the bible?
Remember the incident when some country’s soldier ignorantly burned the Quran because they thought it’s just some random books? There’s an outrage, soldiers were shot dead, riots and protests rose bla bla bla. Isn’t it a very simple act for everyone that one should not treat others in ways that one would not like to be treated. What’s the intention behind burning the bible, to show that Islam is a religion of peace? If it is, I would say Ibrahim Ali did a pretty bad job. If Malay bible has “Allah”, can I burn Quran in English that has the word “God” as it confused me from being a Christian?

5. Why can’t I share my religion to Muslims?
I know this is unlawful but I don’t understand why this is unlawful or unconstitutional to begin with. Should I get jailed if my Muslim friends saw my Facebook status sharing about my faith? (What if I shared a Malay Bible App with the word Allah on Facebook, should we burn Apple store?) Furthermore, isn’t it weird when an ethnicity is being chained to a religion under the constitution? I don’t know about you guys but I just think it’s super weird; isn’t that religion supposed to be my own personal choice, rather than my heritage. It’s like, “Chinese, as defined by the constitution, must eat pork.”

6. Why Malays/ Muslims in Malaysia are so afraid to be converted to Christianity/ other religions?
Personally, whenever I read through these related news about Malaysia, it kind of gives me the idea that somehow, Muslim Malay are really afraid of other religions as if when they listened to other religions, they will all get converted instantaneously and Islam will no longer exist in Malaysia. I am not sure if this is actually a teaching of Islam that they should always stay away from exposing themselves to other religion’s idea or philosophy. If you are strong in your own faith, you will still hold strong to yours no matter what you have read/ listened.

I am not challenging the status of the constitution, but whenever I read through the articles, some of them just don’t make any sense to me. Whenever I read the news about religions in Malaysia, these questions above always boggle me. I am not challenging anyone’s status, but  is there something wrong in our society that leads to this tension in spite of 50 years of harmonious living?

Despite all of our differences, we all believe in some sort of God/Allah/ whatever, and if we do believe, can we stop bringing shame on Him and start some real peace over the land of Malaysia? Burning things, doesn’t help at all.

This is the first time I wrote about something deemed as “extremely sensitive” in my blog: religion, race, and politics. Since these topics are sensitive I believe we really should talk about this in a more openly and polite manner, rather than just sweeping them under the floor, in order to have a better understanding on these topics. Feel free to comment if you think that what I had written here is wrong and insensitive towards the others. These are just my personal opinion and questions.

1. Taking pictures

Desert adventure

Taking pictures are all free around Dubai, and Dubai is a city that doesn’t lack in any good view for photographing. Except for the desert (which you have to take a car), every good scenery can be reached within walking distance by Metro in Dubai. A good huge chunk of the metro line is overhead with huge window, which is great for passengers for a great city view. Malls in Dubai such as Dubai Mall, Emirates Mall and Ibn Batutta Mall have really great interior designs, such as the flying man and the elephant clock. Obviously, you won’t get charge just by taking pictures with the 7 star hotel or Burj Khalifa or the beautiful futuristic street where the Emirates tower is located at. Marina Dubai has a pretty nice view at night, but food served around Marina Dubai usually comes with a really high price.

2. Dubai Museum and along the creek

Dubai Museum costs less than 1 dollar and you can get to view some really interesting history about Dubai and how they built such a beautiful nation and city in less than 40 years. Next to it is a really beautiful, ancient National Mosque and a fashion souk where you can get some really cheap deal on Arabic clothes, badanna and so on. Walk further and you will see the creek and riverside, a pretty relaxing area where you can enjoy the breeze and the ancient, eccentric flavor of Dubai. Across the river is the gold souk where you can get to buy a bunch of cheap gold and souvenirs. Of course, you are more than welcome to bargain down the price.

3. Desert Safari

If you have a night to stay at Dubai, desert safari is a really fun experience that I highly recommend. A typical desert safari package usually includes dune bashing, buffet under the star, belly dancer, camel riding, and of course taking pictures with the beautiful desert in Dubai, and all these cost about 50 dollar per person, depends on the cruise provider. Dune bashing is a really memorable and quite nauseous for me, but still it’s quite worth the money as you get to take pictures with the astonishing desert and camel. The desert safari that I went to brought us to have a quad riding experience before dune bashing. It’s not inclusive, but still, pretty fun riding through sandy hills yourself.

4. Food at downtown

If you ignore all the expensive restaurants near those tourism attractions such as Burj Khalifa and Marina Dubai, food in Dubai is relatively cheap, and especially around downtown where the old Dubai is located at. Relatively, the food is cheaper than a lot of other big cities like France, Barcelona, New York City, Singapore and Tokyo. Food in Dubai has a lot of diversity to cater tourists around the world, yet it stays true to its own unique Arabic flavor with slight influence by cultures around UAE such as India, Lebanese and Iran. You will for sure get sick from their butter chicken curry (too many butter). So not healthy yet so delicious!

5. Beaches and water park

Ride in Wild Wadi Waterpark is fine, but the view is second to none!

Soft sands, beautiful sea view with magnificent skyline view at your back, beach at Dubai is a good destination to relax and chill. There are a lot of free public beaches along the shoreline of Dubai city, there are also a bunch of beaches that are private. Get to take a picture of Al-Arab hotel at the Jumeirah Beach. I didn’t get to the beach but Wild Wadi waterpark next to the beach is really awesome too.

That Malaysia is currently in need of free education till tertiary education.

That there’s something wrong with Malaysia and we need to do something about it.

That we need to have our own stand, not just becoming a bunch of brainwashed kids nodding heads to the government!

And so on… …

In fact, there are a lot of things that we, as Malaysians, need to focus on. We had been outshined by a lot of countries in any way possible. It’s such a laughingstock when we have all the potential to be the germ and epitome of a successful nation in the eyes of many, and yet we are unable to fully utilize it. We have to stop finding excuses that allow us to stay in our own comfort zone and realize that this world is a cruel reality that only the fittest survives. We have to get into the problems, find out the reason behind all these problematic quicksand that is constantly holding back the country’s development, and solve them once and for all. It has been 50 years, and if we couldn’t move forward faster than the others, we are basically just moving backwards.

Here are some of the things that our dear country is in dire need, besides free education advocated by miss Bawani:

1. A better public transportation system.
2. A more competitive education system.
3. An equal opportunity for everyone.
4. A cleaner Malaysia.
5. A more open-minded, tolerant and accepting culture.
6. A safer Malaysia for everyone.
7. Faster internet speed.
8. New and better technological innovation.
9. More efficient tourism system.
10. Higher buying power for general citizens.
11. Better financial management for the government.
12. End poverty.

The list goes on.

Obviously, the government plays a rather important role in making some key decision, but it is not necessary for us to rely on the government completely. Why should we just sit there like dying ducks waiting and begging the government to offer something?　We all can do something about it. By playing our role as normal citizens, we can definitely make Malaysia a better place, even under restricting condition.

Good questions commonly asked, especially by young people like me, are

1. What can we do?
2. How do we execute it?

This is especially true for me cause I have the passion, dreams and ideas to do something, but don’t really have the plan and method to make them into reality.

I have a question for you: Why are you in Malaysia?

I am not sure what you guys think about this line but this boggles me a lot; I find it extremely bothersome and disgusting especially similar sentences like this came out from the mouth of a Malaysian. In fact, this “GET THE F*CK OUT OF MY COUNTRY” is very common on the news headlines and sometimes it can be seen even on my Facebook wall posted by my very own friends. Some classic examples are Mr Ibrahim Ali’s typical rebuttal for issues brought out by the minorities in Malaysia, and the recent Bawani and Sharifah case.

I am utterly confused by this “GTFOOMC” mindset as it has become the standard rebuttal or threat whenever someone brings out issues or questions on the government’s guideline, the country’s performance or anything that doesn’t meet their expectations.

Why can’t we accept the fact that we are lagging behind in certain stuffs and resort to accept the fact that it is OK to stay forever the way it is? Why can’t we listen to other voices that are fundamentally different from us and choose to silence these voices? Why do we see changes and opinions as something that cause anarchy and disturbance but rather a movement to make Malaysia a better place? Why can’t we just focus and work on the dissatisfaction brought out by the people but rather ask them to move to a different country?

It’s just ironic when the authorities say that they are open to all voices but choose to silence voices or ideas that are not parallel with what they are doing.

We have to realize this: constructive complaints and voices of different opinions need to be listened and appreciated to make our country a better place; they are not meant to be swept to under the floor mat. We are a country of many different voices and beliefs, but we all share the same aspiration to make this country a better place for everyone.

Wonder about the brain drain issues? Most of the time intellects were persuaded by these “GTFOMC” mindsets to move to other countries rather than moved out of Malaysia voluntarily.

Conclusion: We REALLY REALLY have to stop the “get-the-fck-out-of-my-country” mentality that constantly drives bright people away (we need them), and start to work on the causes of all these dissatisfaction. We were born here, and we love our country; that’s why we can’t just “duduk diam dan bersyukur”. Not anymore.

What’s said has been said. Sometimes people just talked stoopidly in the wrong attitude. Maybe next time miss Sharifah can handle this kind of situation a little bit better with the following advice.

1. Don’t just take away someone’s mic or use Listen/ Let me Speak/ I speak you listen to stop a speaker for whatever reason. (Or use both of them at the same time).
Maybe she can use, “I am sorry but we are short of time now.” or “The formal event has just finished, but you can talk to me or any of the people up there later personally and we will try our best to not answer your question.” or “We are sorry but the Q&A session is over, and what you had been talking about is irrelevant to the topic we discussed just now. ”  A solid reason that starts with a “I am sorry” can make you look like a more realistic, polite adult.

2. If the speaker does have an attitude problem, do let her finish what she wants to say, and tell her to calm down in a really calmly manner.  
It shows that you are an adult, more mature, patient in listening to other opinions and criticisms, and most importantly you get the time to think what you want to say later for rebuttal. It’s okay not to rush, this is not a who-speak-first-who-win debate contest.

3. Action speaks louder than words; so if you can’t keep the words, don’t say it at the first place.
If you don’t have the answer to Bawani’s questions, or you don’t plan to give her any respect in your coming words, don’t even bother to mention that you want to answer the questions or giving respect to her. “Kite tak burukan nye…” and a few minutes later “… simultaneously you have proven that you have the very least pendidikan…” doesn’t sound anything nice at all. Just say that in her face directly without the respect bullshit thing! At least you keep your words, and it doesn’t make you look like a hypocritical whore who stabs a college student at her back with a smiley face.

4. Avoid saying things like “if you don’t like Malaysia/ this university, go to this/that country/university lah.” and “why stay in Malaysia/ bla bla bla?”
OMG this is like the most sensitive thing you can ever said in front of a Malaysian, and a guarantee that the netizens will bomb you like crazy. Maybe it’s a Malaysian mindset thing that we are all some sort of immigrants and don’t belong to this place. Why nobody can think of something like, “I understand the current situation is bad. I understand what you had gone through. Please bear with us patiently and think of a solution together to make things better.” Even if you don’t mean it, it still looks good on the camera.

5. Don’t be too personal. If you really want to make it personal, don’t do it under a camera!
I understand. Sometimes you just wanna show that little brat that you have the power and authority over this place. Why would you want to do the ridicule lecture thing in front of not just one, but a tons of camera and video recorder? A lot of older people did this, but they won’t be so careless to the extent that it will be viewed by millions, not at this digital age.

6. Be more consistent.
Even when you are bullshitting, you have to be consistent to what you say. Why can’t we make comparison to other countries while she can make comparison between human and animals? That’s a very serious logical flaw. If you don’t want to compare, please keep your logic, don’t compare till the end. Avoid contradicting ideas so that listeners won’t get a migraine.  Why would age become an issue when “The only difference between you and me is a degree and an O-Level. That’s all.” 

7. Stupid comparison is worse than no comparison at all. 
Not everyone can make a good comparison. If you can’t make a comparison, don’t just keep rambling on it. The very classic example is the animal list. Straight to the point can avoid millions of people calling you stupid as you struggle through examples that you have no idea what you are talking about. At the very least there will be more constructive discussion going on, rather than debating on animal rights which is completely irrelevant to the issue.

8. Never stereotype. It’s just wrong.
“All the students in this hall are happy with whatever the government does for them.” “Animals have problem. Cats have problems. Dogs have problems.”  Just by looking at the students’ faces when she said these I am very skeptical about all these stereotypes.

Anyone of us can become a Sharifah if we are not careful enough in what we are saying, and Sharifah can happen in any level of our society if we let our ego and ignorance took over our rational thoughts.  The 13th General Election is coming soon, so I hope we all can learn something from this viral video in terms of what we are gonna speak  in front of the public.

P.S. Personally, I think it is miss Sharifah who molded miss Bawani into an inspirational icon to Malaysians. Without Sharifah’s arrogant attitude, Bawani would just be another girl who raged about problems in Malaysia. So, I wish all the best and a bright future to Miss Sharifah in guest speaking, or even better, a successful career in advocating animal rights.

12. Different people shits differently throughout their life, so stop complaining about your own smelly shit.
13. Cleanse yourself regularly, or it will be a perfect place for more bugs to grow.
14. It could be a really HARD time for you, but once you struggle through, it’s the best feeling in the world.
15. Shit could also be like Gatling-gun, (it just keeps coming )or diarrhea (mucous and unclear) in your life — > great symptoms that your life is probably messed up and you need some form of help.
16. Shit is biodegradable, so if you really can’t deal with it, just let the nature degrades it.
17. In real life, shits aren’t all that bad. Examples are like Holy Shit! Good Shit!
18. If you feel like your life’s shitty and it sucks, think of when your life is literally next to a pile of real shit everyday.  (and you really have to suck real shit literally).

1. Doctors can earn a lot of money.

My parents, whenever we drive through some big houses around my hometown, will point at those big houses and say things like, “look at this big house. It belongs to Doctor Liu from that specialist hospital. Look at that big house. It belonged to doctor Blablabla and he just moved to a bigger one. In future you also need to be a good doctor so that we can live in one too.” Really? There are so many big houses owned by the politicians around Sibu, then why my parents never want me to be the prime minister or some sort of ministers in Malaysia? In fact I feel like the public servants like doctor, teacher, police, they are all really underpaid in Malaysia. Furthermore, Judging by the workload as a doctor, I feel that it just doesn’t worth the payment.

2. I am smart.

Those primary school teachers will always tell my parents that becoming a doctor is awesome for me because my result is pretty good. “O you smart kid, you should be a doctor in future.” I understand that it is really important to have doctors that are smart; Medical schools aren’t that easy. However, isn’t it true for engineers, researchers, professors, managers, and every other professions as well to have people who are smart too? Why must smart people be doing medicine?

3. Doctor is a holy profession.

Lawyers and businessmen are dirty jobs; designing and teaching are for lower class. Seriously? Just because the doctor’s job is to cure those that are sick, heal those that are in pain, etc, I don’t see that doctor is a holier or more superior job than any other jobs that help making this society a better place to live for everyone. In fact you pay for it; doctors don’t do it for free! (Unless doctors volunteer their services, but still every volunteer is equally important.) Have a doctor title in front of me wouldn’t make me any higher than the rest of the people.

4. Doctors will have a happily ever after life.

My dad works in a business related field so it involves a lot of drinking, smoking and meetings, which my mum wasn’t really happy about it if I become just like my dad in future. However, I personally don’t really think that a doctor’s life is that promising as well, due to the influence by Hong Kong drama. It looks cool to wear a white coat everyday but I am just not ready for such a pressured lifestyle as a doctor. In fact all professions have their hard part that only the insiders will know, so it really depends on whether you are a fit to that career or not. All in all, I am pretty sure I will not be happy if I am a doctor; I believe my talents and skills will be maximized at other more productive, fulfilling jobs.

I personally don’t understand why parents want their children to become a doctor. Honestly, if I am a parent, I actually want my kids to become a doctor for one reason only: to make me, aka the parent, look really good in front of the other parents or in front of my community. Sadly, I heard a lot of stories from my friends that they were forced to become doctors, to the extent that they were forced to apply for scholarship in medicine. This is a sick culture to me back then when I was in high school and since then I vowed to myself that I will never become a doctor, unless I believe that saving people’s life and taking care of their health through practice of medicine is something I sincerely want to do.

Doctor here by definition means any kind of profession that practices medicine.
